Charts & Market Data
The chart is the centrepiece of BrighterTrading. It shows live candlestick data streamed in real-time from your selected exchange.
Changing the trading pair
Use the Trading Pair dropdown above the chart. It's searchable — start typing a symbol name (e.g. "ETH" or "SOL") to filter the list. The available pairs depend on which exchange you have selected.
Changing the timeframe
The Timeframe dropdown lets you switch between:
| Timeframe | Label |
|---|---|
| 1 minute | 1m |
| 3 minutes | 3m |
| 5 minutes | 5m |
| 15 minutes | 15m |
| 30 minutes | 30m |
| 1 hour | 1h |
| 2 hours | 2h |
| 4 hours | 4h |
| 6 hours | 6h |
| 8 hours | 8h |
| 12 hours | 12h |
| 1 day | 1d |
| 1 week | 1w |
| 1 month | 1M |
Shorter timeframes show more granular price action. Longer timeframes are better for spotting trends.
Changing the exchange
The Exchange dropdown lets you switch between 15+ supported exchanges. Data is fetched via the Exchange Data Manager (EDM) service, which provides both historical candles and real-time WebSocket streams.
Supported exchanges include: Binance, KuCoin, Coinbase, Bybit, OKX, Bitfinex, Bitget, Bitstamp, Gate, Gemini, HTX, MEXC, Poloniex, and more.
How the data works
When you load a chart, BrighterTrading:
- Fetches the most recent historical candles from EDM
- Opens a WebSocket connection for real-time updates
- Updates the current candle live as new trades come in on the exchange
The chart typically loads around 1,000 historical candles, so on a 5m timeframe you get roughly 3.5 days of history. On a 1d timeframe, you get nearly 3 years.
