Formations

Formations are drawing tools that let you annotate the chart with technical analysis overlays. Draw trendlines, channels, and Fibonacci retracement levels directly on the price chart.

Drawing tools

Open the Formations panel in the right sidebar to access the drawing tools:

Line

Draw a straight line between two points on the chart. Useful for marking trendlines, support levels, and resistance levels.

  1. Click Line
  2. Click on the chart to set the start point
  3. Click again to set the end point

Channel

Draw two parallel lines to mark a price channel. Channels help you visualise the range that price is trading within.

  1. Click Channel
  2. Click on the chart to set the first line's start point
  3. Click to set the first line's end point
  4. Click to position the parallel line

Fibonacci retracement

Draw Fibonacci retracement levels between a swing high and swing low. These levels (23.6%, 38.2%, 50%, 61.8%, 78.6%) are commonly used to identify potential support and resistance areas.

  1. Click Fib
  2. Click on the chart at the swing high (or low)
  3. Click at the swing low (or high)
  4. The retracement levels are drawn automatically

Managing formations

Your formations are listed in the Formations panel below the drawing buttons. Formations are saved per trading pair, exchange, and timeframe — so your BTC/USDT 1h drawings won't appear when you switch to ETH/USDT 5m.

Using formations in strategies

Formations can be referenced in the strategy builder. The Formations category in the Blockly editor provides blocks that let your strategy check whether price is near a trendline, inside a channel, or at a Fibonacci level.
